NPC into Player: Let's Wreck This Game

Chapter 45: Derick's Sinister Forum Topic

Bloom moved jumping from one hall to another like crazy. Each tunnel would take five minutes to cross, he ran each in one minute, or even less. He kept moving with this speed, even depleting his stamina along the way, but he never cared, as his eyes were fixed on one goal, one goal only.

Finally, he spotted it, a large treasure chest, made entirely of a red glowing ore, that was embedded with many jewels. Bloom didn't know how long this chest was here, so he moved at once towards it, not waiting for others to come, as he put his hands over the treasure chest, hoping it didn't require anything to open it.

"System alert: the red treasure chest of the red evolved dungeon is ready to open for those who cleared the dungeon."

"System alert: the red treasure chest has only one minute and will disappear. Do you want to open it now?"

"System alert: the rewards will be determined by the identity of the player opening the chest, and according to the system evaluation during the dungeon hunt, the rewards will be determined."

Bloom was surprised, but he didn't think much. He had one minute only, and he had no time to consider anything. "Open the chest," he said, as the treasure chest issued a creaking sound, as the cover popped up like it was kicked from the inside.

Bloom didn't have time, so he hurriedly pushed the cover, while snatching anything that was inside the treasure box.

In less than one minute, all the things inside the box were sucked dry inside his inventory. The next moment, the whole treasure box vanished, and the familiar repulsion force came, pushing him outside the dungeon, to exit it with others, ending up standing on the entrance to that dungeon.

It was such an exciting experience, and also very stressful and risky.

"Has anyone found the treasure box?" Bloom suddenly turned to look at everyone as he asked this, with an eager and expected look over his face.

His sudden question made everyone not doubt him, as he decided this chest would be his own, as he deserved this, not them.

So, his question startled everyone, as they all shook their heads, which made him show a depressed expression, faking being so sad.

"Don't be sad, we have already cleared the dungeon and got ourselves a huge reward," Peri said, as she tried to console him. he just looked at her while shaking his head as he said:

"It's really regretful, next time we should be much aware of this, and try to search faster."

His words made everyone nod, in agreement, while Gored asked:

"What are we going to do now?"

Bloom had the urge to examine everything he had in his inventory right now, but he had no way to do this now, not as they were this near to him.

"I want to have some rest," Gimmy suddenly said, as he pointed to those who lost their lives during the dungeon hunt, and had nothing back from the rich rewards they all had.

"Yes, that dungeon was really stressful," San said, joining Gimmy side, which was also on the same tune with Blooms thoughts, so he said:

"Alright, we can have rest, but in one hour we need to regroup here," he said, while he was about to leave.

"Where are you going?" Peri asked, as she seemed to want to come with him.

"I have a quest to finish," Bloom just vaguely replied, but before he even could turn and leave, a sudden shocking gasp appeared from San, as he hurried to say:

"Open the forums, hurry!" he was speaking to Bloom, who looked at him in question, while he added, "there is some topic about your quest there."

"My quest?" Bloom asked, in confusion.

"Yeah, that Derick had posted a post one hour ago, at the time when we were inside the dungeon," San explained, before adding further, "he said the details of your quest, and even told players about the way to make your quest invalid!"

The words of San attracted everyone's attention, including Bloom, who just inwardly cursed that Derick. He hurriedly opened the forums, to find a topic on the top of it, with catchy title:

"Know the details of Bloom's quest, a legendary quest with unbelievable rewards!"

Inside the topic, Derick said it all about the content of the quest, about the NPC elder staying in the skull mountain range, where any player could get the quest from if Bloom lost it. He also told them how to lose the quest, in the same way he lost it before, and he even went on to narrate Bloom's skills and habits of fighting.

He included a video recorded of the battles he had with Bloom, either at the dungeon entrance, or at the mountain. Bloom read it all and cursed that bitter loser, and right now he had the urge to zero him out.

However he wasn't that worried, after all his level was now so high, and his skill set had been upgraded. He doubted anyone would be able to touch him, not at this level of the game.

However, he didn't want to underestimate the current situation, especially when he started reading the comments down the topic. Many players had already formed teams to attack him, and there were an endless number of them gathering up.

Even a lion could be killed with endless ants! So he had to take this more serious than he initially thought! The looks on the faces of his team made him realize how bad his situation was, however he didn't panic as much as they all expected him to be.

He stood there, collected, very calm, not as much terrified as they thought he would be.

"I think we should depart ways here," he suddenly said, as if they were with him, they would face endless hunt from players, besides they would be a burden to him.

Playing alone was his own strength, his turf, unlike dungeons where he had to do it in teams, killing players was just natural to him, especially with all his arsenal of new skills and potions.

"But…" Peri spoke, but stopped in her own words, not knowing what she should say to him.

"Don't," he just shook his head, before adding, "until I finish my quest, or manage to leave here first, then we can't level up together," he added, stating the obvious truth, the bitter truth.
