A Story of Evil

Chapter 61: The Solo

"HAHAHAHA! You'll fight all of us? You must be out of your mind." The male water titan said. All the other members teleported to his location immediately; making use of the wet surface where the male titan was stepping on.

"Nathan, Tristan, go to a corner and stay there. Don't let that idiot move again."

"Who are you calling an idi – " Nathan gave him a hand chop on the nape. Knocking the prince out could right away.

It was for the best. They all knew that Prince Blaze would never allow Jade to steal the limelight and would probably do something idiotic if he was left conscious. In his state, he would be nothing but dead weight. In fact, even if he was in top shape, there was just no way he could pull the same stunt as Jade.

"You think we'll just let them go?" Water began rising from the ground yet as soon as it did, Jade's green flames extinguished them. Leaving the same thin layer covering the whole field.

"You think I can't stop you?" Jade said, infuriating two other water titans. They couldn't even cast any other offensive spell at that point because Jade snapped his fingers. Creating explosive flames right in front of the group – only to be blocked by a water barrier.

This created another lull. The other fire titans carried Blaze but before they moved away. Nathan asked:

"Anything else?"

"Yeah. As soon as I give my signal, fire your ultimate at me." Both Tristan and Nathan had eyes widen in shock.

"Isn't that too much flame Jade?" Nathan asked, knowing exactly what their new leader was planning to do with it.

"I can take it. Besides, I haven't really gone all out in our trainings, right?" Nathan smiled at him knowing how this was probably true. Jade needed to hold back during trainings because, Blaze was not supposed to feel too inferior compared to him.

"Don't blame me later okay?"

"Don't worry. I won't." Jade said, dodging a set of water spears that were fired at him. Evaporating into steam as it made impact with the flame covered ground.

"So where's your leader? Or is she still afraid to come out despite this being a five on one fight?

"You really talk big don't you?" It was a female's voice that time around. She walked to the middle of the group and removed her hood. Revealing a deep blue haired woman. Her height, voice and, facial features all gave the impression that she was already twenty.

"You think we're not ready for someone like you?" She said with a smug expression. Not one which had misplaced confidence like Blaze but, one which actually showed that she could win. Yet Jade couldn't care less as he gave his reply.

"Nobody's ever ready for me."

"Really now? I guess you can think about your words in the afterlife."

Jade went into battle stance but, even before he could act he noticed that all the steam around him suddenly vanished. But this realization was too late as Melissa snapped her fingers.

In the blink of an eye multiple water lances pierced Jade's body. There was no way to react to it nor did the fire titans even know how it was casted.

"Fool." Melissa commented, seeing the boy slowly fall to the ground.

The group momentarily dropped their guard. A flaw which proved to be fatal as Jade stepped one foot forward an pointed his hand at the water titans. The group was still registering everything that was happening as the boy snapped his fingers again - creating a large explosion of flames right in front of the water titans.

"Like I said, I can take you all by myself." Jade used his halberd as a cane, helping him to remain standing despite all holes in his body left by the lances.

Unfortunately for him, a wall of water was casted just in the nick of time. Preventing the group from accumulating too much damage. Yet, it wasn't completely deflected as one water titan was down on the ground and was being healed.

"You must be wondering how I'm still alive right?" It was true, Melissa made sure that all of Jade's vitals were targeted by the earlier attack. She even aimed at these multiple times and, even saw the spikes of water spread all around his body.

The boy was obviously devastated by the earlier attack. Yet, that was beside the point. He was still alive despite his brain and his heart being stricken by the spikes.

"Ahh…all this really hurts you know. I might not be able to hold back."

"Hold back? I see that you just keep on spouting nonsense." Melissa commented as his teammates prepared their spells.

"Your little surprise tactic won't work again. Let's see how you survive after I repeat that spell." The wall of water was created once again. It was a lot smaller yet the thickness was still the same. Out of it came the same water soldiers which had spears as their weapon.

"You can repeat it as much as you want." Jade went into fighting stance. With all his wounds somehow being healed.

"It's not gonna kill me."

With this the fight continued. It was obvious that the water titans were stalling for time but Jade couldn't do anything about it. He was too preoccupied with the soldiers which he easily destroyed with his halberd.

This was yet another shock for the water titans. Jade would simply swing his halberd on the soldiers and, they would begin bubbling up - explode within the next second. Turning into steam right away as they completely evaporated.

This was not the only assault met by Jade as water bullets were also fired from the walls of the same element. Yet as soon as these made contact with his body, they would also evaporate. The attack however was still able to leave some damage as there would be moments when Jade would suddenly lag in movements.

"You can threaten us all you want. You may even surprise us a couple more times but the fact still remains that there's only one of you. And we all know that nobody has an unlimited supply of mana." Melissa noticed that the flames on the ground have already disappeared because the soldiers weren't evaporating merely by being there. This was her indicator that the flame titan was about to run out of mana.

Jade didn't pay this any mind. He continued moving swiftly across the battlefield while also making sure that the four weren't getting damaged. He snapped his fingers between the intervals of his attack, creating explosions that hit the barrier of the water titans. Jade needed to do this in order to heighten his assurance that the enemies wouldn't have free time to target the others.

To Melissa, the effort was still futile. One of her allies was already completed in preparing her ultimate spell and, the cooldown for her spears was also finished. There was another AOE spell prepared and, with all of these combined, they knew they could defeat him.

Jade hit one more soldier but this was all that he could do. The others exploded where they stood and, this stunned Jade long enough for Melissa to target him again. Snapping her fingers as the long spikes pierced through Jade's body.

Twenty of these in total have caught the fire titan but, this was not the end of it. More spikes floated around the battlefield. Stabbing through Jade one by one in a gruesome display of his blood splattering with the mixed waters.

But it wasn't enough to kill him. He had miraculously survived once again and, decided that it was time for him to finish the fight.

"NATHAN!"

"TOO LATE!" Melissa screamed as all the moist came together, imprisoning Jade within a sphere of water. Nathan however didn't hesitate and still casted his ultimate spell.

A spiraling inferno rose in the middle of the battlefield and, the water titans focused on taking this down. Water tentacles wrapped around it, creating a large amount of steam that thickened on the battlefield.

It was the closest thing they could get to a real counterattack. But even this towering inferno didn't reach them as, the wall, the tentacles, as well as the soldiers were more than enough to stop it.

"Was that your final resort? I'd have to admit it was a powerful attack but, it's nowhere near a level that could take us down." Melissa said triumphantly, moving all of the steam in order to get a better vision of her enemies. And as soon as she did, an explosion greeted her team.

"HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE!" Jade was there, with his clothes torn but nevertheless alive. All the blood stopped and aside from his burned body, there were no signs of the water attacks getting sustained.

"Run guys." Jade said to his allies. Heeding his advice immediately and turning tail.

The water titans tried hitting them but a wall of green flames covered Jade's allies. Preventing them from getting damaged.

"You really should fix that habit of distracting yourselves from me."

"So you chose to die by yourself? Fine by me. We'll give you a slow and painful death." Melissa commented, as a gigantic tidal wave appeared behind the group.

"You really are slow on the uptake aren't you?" Jade began releasing an intense amount of mana.

All the veins in the bodies of the water titans told them to run at that moment but, they refused to listen to their instincts. Instead, they focused all their offensive spells on taking down the single fire titan who finally casted his finishing spell.

"Overheat."
