X-Rank Hunter

Chapter 146: Blood Captain

"Hmmm..." As Jim swept his gaze around him, he realized that too many Blood Warriors was not too bad. But it wasn't too good as well.

What if he had an advantage in numbers in terms of tamed beasts? One must know that numbers were useless in front of real strength. The best example of it was his fight against his grandfather.

And besides, if they were talking about numbers, Jim had a thousand Blood Minions under his pockets. If he used it to attack, even Middle Rankers would have a hard time surviving. Even one of his Blood Minions was dangerous, so what was there to waste his effort making huge numbers of Blood Warriors?

So Jim really felt that there was no need for him to have so many low-level Blood Warriors. He even felt that these many B-rank beasts were just a waste of his Spiritual Energy. He was thinking that few of them should be enough as his Blood Warriors, at least the stronger ones.

But Jim didn't know what to do with these beasts. Should he free them? What a waste of effort. If only he could fuse them together that would be so much better. But Jim felt that such feat wasn't possible for him as he could only sigh deeply in pity.

At that time, however, Jim noticed that the cute beast he was carrying was now in deep and sweet sleep. He couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief as he finally retracted his hand from its mouth. This beast really gave him a lot of trouble, he was even wondering why was he bothering himself by babysitting this beast.

"This beast..." Jim stared at the little beast he carried as he patted its head gently. This beast was really cute. Maybe, babysitting it was the right choice?

After a moment, Jim swept his gaze around him until his gaze finally landed on a certain fox.

Jim fixed his gaze on it as he raised his hand towards it. The excited fox wagged its tail as it thought that its master had finally noticed its existence.

But to its horror, it found its blood leaving its body as it floated above it to form a small ball of blood until its body turned into a dried corpse and fell on the ground with a heavy thud.

After which, the small ball of blood floated towards Jim as he caught it with his hand and absorbed it right away.

"Oh? I can reclaim my blood huh..." Jim remarked calmly as he nodded in realization. He was thinking that if he wanted to lower the number of Blood Warriors he had so that he could save his Spiritual Energy for the stronger beasts, he should just reclaim his blood he gave to the weaker Blood Warriors.

And from what it appears, it was really a feasible solution.

On the other hand, the surrounding Blood Warriors, especially the newly made ones, shuddered upon seeing that one of their kind ended up being like that. Knowing their master's intent, they were afraid that they would be next.

But what else could they do? It was true that their strength and life only came from their master so what was there for them to complain? Besides, they were enemies in the first place. They should be thankful that their master had let them experience what it felt like for being his tamed beast.

"Master," At that time, however, Jim was just intending to take back his blood from the weaker Blood Warriors when Tokayo suddenly spoke from the side. "If you're planning to take back your blood from these beasts, can I just absorb them?"

Jim shifted his gaze at Tokayo as he asked, "You want to absorb them?"

"Yes," Tokayo nodded.

"Oh? So you can grow stronger by absorbing life? Are you planning to do the same thing as before?" Jim responded with a question. Last time, Tokayo had also absorbed the Tree-Merger Apes when he fought against Jim's grandfather, Laude Jabat.

"This time, I will absorb them permanently..." Tokayo replied.

"Oh?" Jim was a bit surprised. It appeared that this Blood Guardian of his was eager to get stronger as well. "Fine, do whatever you want. But leave the Tree-Merger Apes, Batik, and the three new A-rank beasts be, okay?"

These Tree-Merger Apes were the precious friends of his very first tamed beast. Even if these weaklings serve no great help, with Bantay as their backer, Jim allowed them to continue living with him.

On the other hand, Batik was an A-rank Beast and was strong enough himself. Jim didn't plan to throw him away too.

The same went for the three new A-rank beasts, he was planning to take them in too. He was even thinking about what should he name to them.

A black bear, a white lion, and a red bull that walked in two feet... Jim recounted that these three were defeated by Batik after many tries. If he should name these three, then he must use cool names again...

Jim held his chin as he thought deeply about it. He was even planning to make a new rank for his named Blood Warriors. Perhaps, he should call them... Blood Captains?

"Yes, master," On the other hand, Tokayo responded as he bowed down and as he seemed as if looking around in the area. Among all the beasts or whatsoever of their master, he was the only one who had received the greatest amount of ability and authority.

That being said, just like how his master did, Tokayo could take away the blood of his master's Blood Warrior to absorb it for himself.

So as his master was busy on his own matter, Tokayo raised his hand upwards as he couldn't help but mutter, "Come!"

Jim's newly made Blood Warriors were helpless. It appeared that their journey ends here. They could only sigh in lament knowing that the fate of the weaklings was really depressing.

But then, instead of their blood leaving their body, they themselves had slowly turned into a ball of blood as they floated in the midair. After some time, their body that turned into the small balls of blood gathered at Tokayo right away. It formed a bigger ball of blood just above Tokayo's raised hand as it didn't take long for all of the blood to finish gathering in one place.

After it was done, and as Tokayo used his hand, he finally absorbed the ball of blood formed above him. After which, it was slowly being absorbed as Tokayo felt the increase of his Life Energy. But of course, Tokayo could feel as well that his combat prowess had improved greatly. With the many beasts he had absorbed, using some of their skill was now possible for Tokayo.

Tokayo raised his hand at a chest-level as he looked at his palm. His hand then turned into a hand of something like a werewolf as he curled and uncurled it thrice to feel the strength.

After which, he clenched his hand into a fist as he waved it sideways. Shockwaves were immediately formed pushing away everything in its way.

On the other hand, the Tree-Merger Apes could only gulp a mouthful of saliva seeing the strength of Tokayo. This guy was really far stronger than them. The Tree-Merger Apes couldn't help but feel jealous.

Even Batik, or even the other three new A-rank beasts, all felt that Tokayo was stronger than them. Even if they combined their strength, they felt that if they fought against Tokayo, they were still the ones that would suffer. Sigh, what a depressing fellow.

"Not bad," Tokayo remarked, satisfied. His hand then turned back to normal as he shifted back his gaze to his master, "Master, I'm done here."

But it appeared that his master didn't hear him at all as the other party was busy contemplating and was gazing at the three new A-rank beasts.

Sigh. Tokayo could only sigh. From the looks of it, his master was planning to name his three new tamed beasts. This master of him was really trying his best in making up a name. But the name he came up with was really astonishing. Even Tokayo felt like he was dreaming.

Not only him, but even Batik could only sigh deeply as well. He even felt pity to the three new tamed beasts of their master for the possible name they would receive.

"Alright!" And just like that, it appeared that Jim had finally finished thinking what name he should give his three new Blood Warriors, no, Jim decided that they were now his Blood Captains, including Batik. "These are your new names! Remember it well, alright?!"

The three A-rank beasts stared at their new master intently as they all wanted to hear what their name would be. After all, they had no name before. They were just being called on whatever kind of beast were they as they often used their beast senses to communicate to each other.

But now that they were a tamed beast, they would be finally be given a name. They knew full well that being named by their master once they became a tamed beast was a normal occurrence. After all, although they didn't see it for themselves before, the knowledge was being passed down to them by their queen.
