Villain Is Bodyguard of Heroine’s Poisonous Stepmother

Chapter 68: Chen Luo Takes the Initiative

Although the members of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group were restless, they didn’t dare disobey Ye Chen’s orders. Even the proudest among them held a deep respect for Ye Chen.

“I’ll assign you a task first. Capture this woman for me.”

Ye Chen took out a photograph, which was of Zhao Yingxuan.

In truth, he preferred to have his men capture Chen Luo. However, after some thought, he decided against it, knowing all too well that apprehending Chen Luo was out of the question given his formidable abilities. Attempting to capture Chen Luo would likely result in his men going on a futile mission.

“Boss, she’s a stunning woman. Have you taken a fancy to her?” one of them jests.

“Cut the nonsense. You must find a way to bring this woman to me, bound and secured,” Ye Chen ordered coldly.

Xiao Qingxue was in Chen Luo’s hands, and by capturing Zhao Yingxuan, Ye Chen intended to negotiate an exchange with Chen Luo.

“This mission must be executed flawlessly. I won’t tolerate any mishaps.”

The only way to rescue Xiao Qingxue was to capture Zhao Yingxuan and use her as leverage. Without this, Ye Chen was at a loss for solutions.

Xiao Yongqiang’s influence had virtually turned the entire city upside down, yet they failed to locate Xiao Qingxue. This indicated that she was hidden exceptionally well. The only viable strategy was to gain a bargaining chip of their own to negotiate with Chen Luo.

“Don’t worry, Boss. Kidnapping? We’ve done this sort of thing before,” Mu’er declared confidently. If they could dominate the battlefield, abducting someone was trivial in comparison.

“Don’t be careless. Here are a few more photos for you to see. Pay close attention to their faces.”

Ye Chen produced several more photographs, this time of Chen Luo, Chun Mei, and Xia Lan.

After examining the photos, Mu Er asked, “Boss, do you want us to capture them all?”

“No, I’m telling you that if you encounter them, flee. You’re no match for them,” Ye Chen spoke with a grave expression.

Chen Luo’s strength surpassed theirs, and both Chun Mei and Xia Lan had jointly repelled him the last time he visited Zhao Yingxuan’s villa. Each of these individuals was as strong as, if not stronger than, Ye Chen himself.

“Boss, are you saying this pretty boy and these two beautiful women are that formidable?” Harvey scoffed dismissively.

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

Ye Chen glanced at Harvey with a slightly furrowed brow. Although Harvey was strong, any one of the three could easily defeat him. Arrogance often comes at a price, sometimes the cost of one’s life.

Harvey, the rough and tough guy, might not listen to others, but he dared not ignore Ye Chen. He had learned his lesson the hard way, having been disciplined by Ye Chen for his insolence and arrogance in the past.

“I’ve arranged a place for you to stay. For now, reside there and await my orders.”

After giving these instructions, Ye Chen dismissed them.

However, what they didn’t know was that they were already being watched. White Rose, a prominent figure in the city, had many eyes and ears under her command.

“President Bai, the investigation is complete. There are nineteen foreigners in total.”

Originally, there were supposed to be only twelve, but seven others, who had chosen to retire, also decided to come out of hiding and head to the city upon learning of their boss’s troubles. Their sense of loyalty was evident.

So, nineteen members of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group had gathered in the city, marking the full assembly of their team.

“Have you pinpointed their location?” Bai Meixiang asked calmly.

“We have. They’re in a secluded building on the western outskirts.”

Such people, preferring to avoid the limelight, naturally sought a remote hiding spot. Their choice of a temporary residence was accordingly distant.

“I see. Keep watching them,” she instructed.

Afterward, Bai Meixiang directly called Chen Luo, informing him of the number of foreigners and their location.

“Well done. You’ve made a significant contribution this time. What do you want? I’ll fulfill any wish within my power,” Chen Luo said, extremely pleased. Indeed, winning over Bai Meixiang proved useful, given White Rose’s considerable influence in the city’s underworld.

Bai Meixiang wanted to ask for her freedom, but she knew it was impossible.

“I don’t need anything. This is my duty.”

Bai Meixiang had accepted her role, she was now a subordinate of Chen Luo. Was it even appropriate to expect rewards for serving him?

Even so, deep down, Bai Meixiang had braced herself for the worst, including possibly losing herself to Chen Luo. She was confident in her charm.

However, sometimes being beautiful could be both a blessing and a curse.

Fortunately, Chen Luo currently showed no intention of taking advantage of her. Bai Meixiang comforted herself with this thought, rationalizing that even if that day came, it wouldn’t be a loss. After all, Chen Luo was undeniably handsome, perfectly fitting her aesthetic. However, she felt too passive around him, and Bai Meixiang preferred to be in control.

“Rally your people and prepare to make a move,” Chen Luo instructed Bai Meixiang.

Chen Luo had already decided on a preemptive strike. Knowing the enemy was targeting him and not responding proactively would be foolish. With his seven-day antagonist aura still in effect, he wouldn’t make a move that would lower his intelligence.

“Okay,” Bai Meixiang responded succinctly.

“Xia Lan, you stay here. Chun Mei, come with me.”

This time, Chen Luo planned to take the initiative. Ideally, he would eradicate Ye Chen’s influence completely, akin to breaking one of Ye Chen’s arms.

Meanwhile, Bai Meixiang led her team to the secluded building in the western suburbs. The location was indeed isolated, with no one else living there apart from Ye Chen’s men.

“Mr. Chen.”

When Bai Meixiang met with Chen Luo, her feelings were complex. For the first time in her life, someone had invoked a sense of fear in her, the kind of fear one felt in the face of death.

“Brother Luo.”

Qiu Zhu and Dong Ju greeted Chen Luo as well. Since being assigned to Bai Meixiang’s side, they had been vigilantly watching over her.

Even without realizing it, Qiu Zhu and Dong Ju had demonstrated their strength in front of Bai Meixiang, which was one of the reasons she obediently followed Chen Luo’s orders without any tricks.

“You’ve brought quite a number of people.”

Chen Luo glanced at the group Bai Meixiang had brought with her–over fifty individuals, most of whom were armed with guns. The fact that Bai Meixiang could procure so many firearms was a testament to her not being a simple character.

“This matter must be very important to Mr. Chen, so naturally, I have to give it my all,” Bai Meixiang said, displaying a serious attitude about handling the task diligently.

“Let’s start the operation. Remember, at all costs, eliminate them. If you can shoot, then shoot. Those people are mercenaries who have fought through battles and gunfire,” Chen Luo reminded Bai Meixiang.

It was then that Bai Meixiang realized the identity of those they were up against–mercenaries. Hearing this, her expression grew solemn. Although she held significant sway in the underground world of the city, she knew her limitations. Her people were no match for battle-hardened mercenaries.

“These people have just arrived in our country and might not be fully armed, so don’t worry too much,” Chen Luo said, noticing Bai Meixiang’s concern.

In truth, even if the mercenaries were fully armed, Chen Luo wouldn’t be afraid. In fact, he wouldn’t even need to lift a finger; Chun Mei, Qiu Zhu, and Dong Ju alone could take care of them.

Chen Luo led his group closer to the secluded building. The people inside were unaware of the approaching danger, and of the death that was descending upon them.
