Villain Is Bodyguard of Heroine’s Poisonous Stepmother

Chapter 117: Has Chen Luo and Gu Wanyus Relationship Been Exposed?

Half a month had flown by since Ye Chen’s wedding. During this time, the Luo and Li families’ rivalry had been intense, with the Wang family too busy seeking the murderer to get involved. Elder Wang hadn’t been buried yet. Without finding the murderer, how could they proceed with the funeral?

While the Wang family suspected the Luo family, they lack proof. Despite mobilizing their entire family’s efforts, the culprit remained at large.

Chen Luo and Gu Wanyu had been hitting it off, effectively turning Li Zhong green all over. It was uncertain how Li Zhong would react upon discovering this, perhaps he would go mad.

“The protagonist has been unusually well-behaved lately,” said Chen Luo to himself.

According to Bai Meixiang’s surveillance, Ye Chen had been quietly staying within the Li family’s residence, not venturing beyond its gates. Such timidity didn’t fit the protagonist’s profile, especially not someone like Ye Chen, who was known for his audaciousness.

Ye Chen’s recent docility left Chen Luo feeling uneasy, especially since he intended to neutralize Ye Chen. After noticing an improvement in Ye Chen’s abilities, he had planned to disable him, if not completely, then at least partially.

Unfortunately, with Ye Chen not venturing out, Chen Luo had been unable to seize an opportunity. Perhaps Ye Chen sensed danger, which was why he was reluctant to leave the Li residence.

“Even if Ye Chen won’t come out, I must find a way to draw him out,” Chen Luo thought.

But it was challenging to lure Ye Chen out.

Previously, merely mentioning Xiao Qingxue was enough to provoke Ye Chen, but that strategy might not be as effective now.

While Chen Luo was contemplating how to draw Ye Chen out, his phone suddenly rang with a video call from Gu Wanyu.

“Is she missing me?” Chen Luo mused with a slight smile before accepting the call.

Upon connecting, he was greeted by Gu Wanyu’s somewhat flustered face.

“Chen Luo, there’s been an incident.”

“What’s happened? Did Li Zhong discover our relationship?” Chen Luo’s brow furrowed, knowing it could spell trouble if Li Zhong found out about his relationship with Gu Wanyu.

“No, he hasn’t found out yet, but my son has,” Gu Wanyu said, her voice laced with panic. “He unlocked my phone on the table and saw our chat history, including our photos together. Then… I was afraid he would tell Li Zhong, so I knocked him out when he wasn’t looking.”

Gu Wanyu panned her phone camera to show Li Qiwen lying on the ground, his head bleeding, indicating she didn’t hold back.

“I… I don’t know what to do now.”

If Li Zhong discovered her relationship with Chen Luo, not only would her life be at risk, but Li Zhong would undoubtedly not spare Chen Luo. Even if she was unsure of Chen Luo’s full capabilities, facing the Li family’s full wrath would not bode well for him.

Chen Luo was troubled, knowing the usual solution would be to silence the witness forever, but Li Qiwen was Gu Wanyu’s son.

“Typically, the best course of action is to eliminate the witness. If he’s dead, he can’t expose anything.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Wanyu shuddered. She glanced down at Li Qiwen, her fist clenched in silence, and with a look of resolve, she solemnly said, “Then, let’s do as you say.”

“Cough, cough.”

The phone nearly slipped from Chen Luo’s hand, his mind reeling in disbelief. Was Li Qiwen not Gu Wanyu’s biological son?

“This is for our safety. You won’t blame me for being ruthless, will you?”

Gu Wanyu’s decision was also influenced by another reason. She considered Li Qiwen’s presence a potential obstacle to her relationship with Chen Luo. Despite being her son, the bond between them was weak. Gu Wanyu’s marriage to Li Zhong was a union of convenience without love, leading her to harbor resentment towards both Li Zhong and his family, feelings that extended even to Li Qiwen.

Even though Li Qiwen was her biological son, Gu Wanyu felt no affection for him. Their encounters were scarce, barely once a year. It puzzled her how he suddenly appeared and stumbled upon her secret, including how he managed to unlock her phone.

“I can kill him now. Can you help get rid of the body, making it as if he never came here?”

“No, don’t kill him. Let me handle this,” Chen Luo said.

Without intervention, Gu Wanyu was ready to commit the act. She even took out a knife. Her determination suggested she had considered killing Li Qiwen even before reaching out to Chen Luo.

This new side of Gu Wanyu overturned Chen Luo’s previous perceptions. The woman who had been so obedient now revealed a ruthlessness he hadn’t expected.

“Not kill him? Then what should we do?”

Gu Wanyu sighed, letting the knife fall to the ground. She was torn, inwardly wishing to remove what she saw as an obstacle to her relationship with Chen Luo, yet her hands trembled at the prospect of actually doing it.

“If we let him go, he’ll definitely tell Li Zhong,” Gu Wanyu said with a heavy tone. Knowing her strained relationship with her son, Li Qiwen discovering her infidelity would undoubtedly lead him to inform Li Zhong.

The consequences would force both her and Chen Luo to confront the formidable Li family.

“Not killing him doesn’t mean we’ll let him off,” Chen Luo said, sharing a newly devised plan with Gu Wanyu, which involved orchestrating a scenario. All Gu Wanyu needed to do was play her part.

Gu Wanyu agreed to Chen Luo’s plan.

After hanging up the video call, Chen Luo promptly contacted Qiu Zhu and Dong Ju, tasking them with a specific mission.

The assignment was to kidnap Gu Wanyu and Li Qiwen. Following Chen Luo’s orders, Qiu Zhu and Dong Ju acted swiftly, successfully kidnapping Gu Wanyu and Li Qiwen within an hour. The two female bodyguards in Gu Wanyu’s villa met their end at the hands of Qiu Zhu and Dong Ju.

According to Gu Wanyu, those two female bodyguards were actually sent by Li Zhong to monitor her, something she was well aware of. Hence, she explicitly asked Chen Luo to eliminate them during “kidnapping”. They were hindrances to her clandestine meetings with Chen Luo. Gu Wanyu had long been eager to remove them from the equation.

Bai Meixiang provided the hidden location where Gu Wanyu was taken.

“What comes next? Will you keep us locked up here? Honestly, I wouldn’t mind being imprisoned by you forever,” Gu Wanyu said as she threw herself into Chen Luo’s arms.

The idea of being here didn’t seem too terrible to her. It meant she could always be with Chen Luo, despite their relationship being out of the public eye.

“Your son is awake. Aren’t you concerned about how this looks?” Chen Luo asked.

“He’s already aware of everything. What’s there left to worry about?” Gu Wanyu replied, paying no attention to Li Qiwen and showing utter disregard for her son.

Li Qiwen, now conscious, watched Chen Luo and Gu Wanyu with venomous eyes, filled with vehement anger.

“My father was right, you indeed are having an affair,” Li Qiwen spat out, causing a tremor in Gu Wanyu. Her gaze turned menacing as she reluctantly stepped away from Chen Luo, her terrifying stare fixed on Li Qiwen.

“Did Li Zhong find out about this?”

If Li Zhong was aware, then all their efforts would have been in vain.
