The Moon Thief

Chapter 60: The Man In Darkness

After Morena, Mady and Ruske came back, they also told them about the situation. After a short debate, it was decided that the others would stay in town and observe while Dane, Heinald, and Morena went to Jusen City.

Heinald, Dane, and Morena wasted no time in their journey to Jusen City.

When they reached the city after days of travel, they first found an inn and rented a room for themselves. They gave themselves a day off to relieve the tiredness of the day-long journey. After little resting, they got back together and started making plans.

Heinald had seen the face of a member of the organization before. So he would go there first and make observations. If he couldn't find something, Morena would try to use her charm and learn some information. Dane, on the other hand, would observe the outside of the place unobtrusively at a safe distance.

Heinald and Dane arrived at Ulmy's Card Club after a ride on horseback. Morena did not go with them as there was nothing she could do for now. It would be unreasonable for her to show herself at that place.

This place was located on the lowest floor of a three-story building. It could be said that the building was quite large, also that this place was quite popular. Especially when it gets dark, this place gets much more crowded.

While Heinald was inside, Dane would observe outside. If anyone or anything caught his attention, he would report it later.

Contrary to what he expected when he entered, he encountered a very decent and orderly place. Most of those inside were at the level of Apprentice Ainsar, and they were all sitting at the tables at the entrance. For Level 1 Ainsars, special lodges on the upper floor were being prepared. There was no such thing as loud laughing or talking caused by drunkenness in the venue. Everyone was calmly chatting with the people next to them while drinking their drinks.

"I don't see anyone gambling... It's probably being organized on a secret floor." Heinald looked around and made a deduction.

"Welcome, sir! Please allow me to serve you!" An attendant came up to him and bowed down. He escorted him to one of the luxury lodges upstairs and began serving them the venue's most popular food and drink.

Heinald was observing invironment carefully as he enjoyed the food and drink served to him. He was trying to guess who might be members of the organization and hoped to see that organization member again who had contacted the Cruxal.

He actually didn't trust the intelligence that the members of the organization were hanging around here, so he didn't give himself much hope.

The hours passed quickly, but no one had ever aroused Heinald's suspicion, and neither had he seen the man. He decided to leave this place to come back tomorrow and stood up, but at that moment a man walking through the door made his eyes widen.

This man was the one he had seen with the Cruxal!

He went up to one of the attendants, said something, then disappeared through the door on the right.

Heinald left after giving a few Arkana Stones to the attendant serving him. When he came out, he gestured to Dane, who was hidden in a secluded corner. He got on his horse and began to ride it slowly. Not long after, Dane came up to him with his horse.

"I saw him!" Heinald said.

"Are you serious?" There was a mixture of excitement and surprise in Dane's voice.

"Yes."

"So what happened?" Dane asked.

"Nothing, I only saw him from afar. Then he stepped into a room and disappeared." Heinald shrugged.

When Heinald and Dane returned to inn which they lodge, they also informed Morena. Thereupon, they all started to think about the plan to infiltrate the organization. The intelligence that Baunt got was indeed correct. This was very big news for them because now they could directly observe the members of the organization.

Heinald did not sleep that night and formed a plan in his mind. He left the inn early the next day and went to the market area. He bought Blue Ason Grass, Taws Bull Stomach, Hare Eye and Hetirus Flower Extract from a shop he had visited before.

He then left without wasting time and returned to the inn.

Entering his room, he told the innkeeper that no one should disturb him, and he took out some alchemical tools and materials from the dimensional pocket of his robe.

"Alright! I can start making the Blood Spoiling Pill." Heinald took a deep breath.

The Blood Spoiling Pill was a pill that he had formulated with knowledge from the Risclaw Clan's library. If successful, this pill would completely change the composition of his blood for a second or two.

After Heinald burned the harmful particles on all the materials with Spirit Flame, he started the necessary processes. First, he synthesized Blue Ason Grass and Hetirus Flower Essence. Then he injected the resulting mixture into the Hare Eye.

In the next step, he opened the Stomach of the Taws Bull and carefully removed the gastric juice inside. After pouring some Silver Water into the small cauldron, he added two drops of gastric juice into it and threw the eye into the cauldron.

It was time for the most important stage!

Heinald created a formation that spanned the room so that the surrounding items would not be damaged and the energy emanation would not be suspicious.

"Here we go! Death Ray!" Heinald's eyes lit up and an incredible warmth began to radiate from his hand as he held the small cauldron.

*Shoouh!* The red and black fire ray from Heinald's hand rushed directly into the cauldron. The temperature inside the room reached a scorching temperature within seconds. The black cauldron completely turned a flame-red color.

"It must go on a little longer!" Heinald grit his teeth as he stared at the small cauldron he was holding.

Because his Spiritual Magic—Death Ray—was incredibly powerful, it was draining a large amount of Magic Energy in return.

This process continued for about two minutes. He had never used his Spiritual Magic for this long before. His Magical Energy had almost completely dried up, now his entire body began to tremble and a great sense of pressure began to appear in the depths of his soul.

When Heinald decided that the boiler had warmed enough, he stopped heating it any further. The protective formation surrounding the chamber had almost come to a state of disintegration, even though it was not exposed to direct fire.

When Heinald opened the lid of the cauldron in his hand, he saw that the Hare Eye inside it had shrunk considerably. It used to be the size of a walnut, but now it's the size of a hazelnut.

"Blood Spoiling Pill is successfully done! Heinald grinned happily. He was going to use this pill at the crux of his plan. Since the purity of this pill was so low, the body would develop full immunity to it in one use. He had only one use right, which made him feel bad, but he still had hope that he could create another formula in the future.

When Heinald came out of his room hours later, Dane and Morena asked what he was doing, but they didn't get a proper answer from him. He wanted to keep the Blood Spoiling Pill as a secret. Not that he did n't trust Dane and Morena, no, he did n't trust Baunt, the stranger in the group, and he did n't want to reveal information about this pill.

"Now listen carefully, I'll tell you the plan in my head." Heinald took turns looking at his two friends standing next to him.

"Have you prepared a plan already?" Dane asked in surprise.

Heinald grinned and began to explain his plan.

******

"Morena! I'm here!" Heinald waved to his friend who had entered Ulmy's Card Club.

"Heinald, it's been a long time!" Morena quickly walked over to Heinald and hugged him.

"Yeah, it's been a really long time." Heinald had a happy smile on his face.

"I heard from old Coby that you've obtained some valuable potion formulas and working on them." Morena said.

"Yes, I was lucky and after several successful experiments I was able to successfully brew a few potions!" Heinald nodded.

The conversation between the two caught the attention of a middle-aged man at the next table. This man had blue eyes and wavy brown hair.

This was the man Heinald had seen!

Getting this man's attention was the first step in Heinald's plan. He had been watching this man for days and trying to learn about his routine. This man would usually meet up with some of his friends at the same hour and chat. He was a Level 1 Ainsar, as it can be understood from his acts, he had an important and senior rank in the organization.

That's why Heinald and Morena played the role of friends who haven't seen each other for a long time, and they put forward the 'Potion' argument that would get that man's attention. It was quite obvious that Heinald was still very young. In any case, the point that caught this man's attention was that Heinald was not just a potion master, but a young potions master.

An Ainsar who managed to become a potion master at a young age would be someone all organizations, families, and various Ainsar Alliances would like to acquire. They hoped to somehow bond with them, using his inexperience from his young age.

However, Heinald was far more experienced than his current age, as he was constantly trained by an Ainsar even as a child. Especially his grandfather told him about his various memories and asked him to draw experiences from these memories.
