Sweet Chief Secretary

Chapter 554 - Just Make It Clear

Chapter 554 Just Make It Clear

“Wanru?” Xia Yu called her tenderly.

“Ah, you finally think of me?” Wanru curled up her lips and then sent some food into her mouth with the chopsticks.

“Wanru, actually…” Zhou Yan knew that she felt uncomfortable in her heart but things were not always black or white.

“In fact, I don’t care who is with Young Master Yan. That is his aunt and that is his brother, isn’t it?” Wanru said annoyingly.

“Wanru, Shen Yan doesn’t want to suspect his aunt. However, President Zhang is Shen Mo’s man and Shen Mo is his eldest brother. If he had something to ask for Shen Yan’s help, Shen Yan couldn’t turn down.” Xia Yu also knew that Zhang Hanyu asked Shen Yan out this time possibly because of Shen Yang.

Xia Yu’s instinct told herself that Shen Yang wouldn’t poke her finger into it. But, instinct sometimes could be mistaken. For instance, she chose to believe Chen Wenxuan but it turned out that Xia Yu was wrong.

“Yeah, Wanru, it is Shen Family’s domestic affair after all. Let them solve it by themselves.” Zhou Yan patted Wanru’s hand which rested on the table as gently as before.

Although Wanru knew it, she still wanted to rage at Zhang Hanyu upon seeing him. She just couldn’t control herself.

Zhou Yan and Xia Yu looked into each other’s eyes and kept silent. This was Wanru’s own emotional entanglement, which could only be solved by herself.

The private room was booked in advance, which was a quaint room. All dishes had been served and the door and windows were shut, keeping the noise outside. Inside sat only Zhang Hanyu and Shen Yan.

Neither of them was in a hurry to speak or touch the chopsticks.

Zhang Hanyu firstly poured some boiled water into the teapot. Then, he groped a square iron box from a coat pocket, in which was dried tea leaves. He picked some, putting them into the teapot and shook the teapot twice.

“Young Master Yan, the vegetarian food here is rather good. But the tea here is not. Taste mine.” Zhang Hanyu pored some into Shen Yan’s cup. The tea looked green and smelled fragrant.

Shen Yan took a sip.

“How is it?”

“Good!”

“Can you tell where is it from?”

Shen Yan slightly shook the cup and smiled with the corner of his mouth lifted, “Xinyang Maojian!”

The other man on the opposite side couldn’t help putting down the teapot and exclaiming, “Young Master Yan is a professional!”

Shen Yan shook his head, “I’m not a professional. You know I’m allergic to coffee. Then I become a tea person. That’s why I have some knowledge of it.”

“Hahaha…” Zhang Hanyu gave a fit of laughter. He raised the cup, took a sip and folded his lips. Observing the quality of tea while raising the cup, he said, “When it comes to tea, most people only think of Xihu Longjing, Suzhou Biluochuan or Fujian Tieguanyin. But they don’t know the Maojian from Henan Xinyang is also good. That place has been famous as a tea home long ago. Xinyang Maojian and Xihu Longjing are all mentioned in The History of Tea.”

Shen Yan laughed, too, “It seems that President Zhang is also a scholar of tea.”

“I’m not a scholar. I only study tea books occasionally.” Zhang Hanyu took another sip.

Shen Yan touched the cup edge and continued, “President Zhang has a good taste.”

“I am ‘forced’. I can’t sit idle in that place.” After he said so, he looked up at Shen Yan with a smile. That skill should be attributed to Shen Yan’s efforts.

But Shen Yan just rubbed the cup edge with his finger slowly, “It’s good to have a rest, isn’t it?” After he said so, Shen Yan burst into laughter first. Zhang Hanyu then put down his cup.

“Young Master Yan, don’t laugh. I still miss those days because I don’t have to worry about anything.”

Hearing that, Shen Yan ceased to laugh, “Since President Zhang misses those days, would you like to go back?”

When he said so, the atmosphere in the private room which was harmonious suddenly became chilling. Zhang Hanyu who was sitting opposite showed ferocity in his eyes while Shen Yan kept touching the cup at leisure with a smile on the corner of his mouth.

At that moment, they were all silent. Half a minute later, Zhang Hanyu gave a fit of laughter to broke the ice while picking the teapot to fill Shen Yan’s cup.

“Young Master Yan has a good sense of humor. But your words sound right. I did wrong in the past and felt guilty about Young Master Yan. So allow me to apologize to you.” There was the wisdom of a worldling in Zhang Hanyu’s words in his age, “But2 Young Master Yan, your career is on the rise. I think you’re promising in the future.”

It sounded like a flattering remark but Shen Yan knew what Zhang Hanyu’s hint. He didn’t want to disclose it. Instead, he raised his cup and smiled faintly, “President Zhang thinks too highly of me. Whether it is a success or a loss, no one can tell.”

“Young Master Yan, you are too modest. Shen Group is a leader in the industry. What’s more, I have confidence in Young Master Yan because you have the stamina and the quality to make a big success.”

After sipping half a cup of tea and making roundabouts, they finally came to the point.

Shen Yan involuntarily frowned slightly and shook the tea leaves, floating around the cup, “President Zhang had better think over your words. Luckily, there are no outsiders here. Otherwise, people may overhear and think I’m wheedling you to leave my eldest brother’s camp.”

“Haha… Young Master Yan thinks too much. It takes two to tangle. If one could make it, it would be his talent. What’s more, you and your eldest brother are at odds, which is an open secret. You have taken away many things from him in the past years. We all know it.”

Under such a circumstance, they didn’t have to beat around the bush. Shen Yan knocked the cup on the table and rubbed his fingers.

“Yes, you’re clever! Since then, you may put it clearly as well!”

Zhang Hanyu patted the table at once, “OK, I appreciate Young Master Yan’s calmness and open-mindedness. Then let me make it clear! Now it showed clearly that Old Madame is going to support your aunt. What’s Young Master Yan’s opinion of it?”

“Or what?” Shen Yan’s slightly squinted his foxy eyes.

“Young Master Mo wants me to convey his words to you that the reason why he advised you to hand over the project of that development area was that he hoped you could figure out the situation clearly.” Zhang Hanyu knew the emotional entanglements between Shen Yan and Shen Mo. A single word of cooperation could not bring them to peace, considering their new hatred and old one.

“Now you’ve seen that Old Madame hands over the project of the development area to your aunt.” Zhang Hanyu had made it clear that the brotherly hatred was not as important as the position of President.

Shen Yan understood Zhang Hanyu’s meaning. Driving Shen Mo out of the old house could be explained as Old Madame’s act of rage. However, handing over the project of the development area was still an act of rage?

With a faint smile, Shen Yan spoke, “A quarrel benefits only a third party. According to your thought, Aunt apparently makes a success. Old ginger is hotter than new. We have to admit it.”

Even though Old Madame let Aunt take charge of the company, what they could do to make a change? Obviously, Aunt has the air to handle those shareholders in the company. Otherwise, no one dared to object.

“Does Young Master Yan resign yourself to fate? If so, you were not like the Young Master Yan I used to know.” Zhang Hanyu was not sure whether Shen Yan was going to compromise or he was too vigilant to them.

“Sometimes, a wise man submits to fate.” Shen Yan stared at the vegetarian food on the table which was untouched and involuntarily felt like laughing. Zhang Hanyu was a well-recognized tiger. Should a tiger eat vegetarian food? How ridiculous!

“Thank President Zhang for this treat. But you’ve seen that after my girlfriend had such an accident, she didn’t take a good rest and go back to the company yet.” Shen Yan stood up.

He didn’t think of giving up because he always believed Old Madame wouldn’t let Aunt take charge. Otherwise, when Shen Mo accused Yang Weiye, she would have let Aunt take charge.

However, Shen Mo’s doubts were reasonable. Wait and see. After all, Old Madame hadn’t canceled the competition between them.

Zhang Hanyu felt it was a pity but he couldn’t prevent Shen Yan from leaving. It looked like that it was necessary for Shen Mo to persuade Shen Yan into cooperation in person.

Coming out of the restaurant, Xia Yu directly went back to the company. This meal, how to say, was frustrating.

At the gate of the company, she saw Shen Qiang who looked haggard, “Xiao Qiang, are you coming up to see me?” Seeing Shen Qiang walking towards her, Xia Yu stopped.

Shortly after his mother took over the project of the development area, she ran across such a big accident. As her son, he couldn’t be of much help to her, which made Shen Qiang feel depressed indeed.

“Sister, why not take a few more days off at home?” When Xia Yu was back, Shen Qiang was not here. So when he came back, he learned that Xia Yu began to work after he asked Xia Family about her.

Xia Yu looked very bony, which made others feel sympathy. Shen Qiang’s heart felt hurt as if it was seized. What a misfortunate girl, suffering so much!

“Xiao Qiang, is Aunt well now?” Xia Yu made a call to Shen Yang earlier but Shen Yang hung up after a few sentences as if she was busy then.

“She is OK. Don’t worry.” Shen Qiang forced a smile, “Haven’t my second brother and Zhang Hanyu finished lunch yet and come back? Do they really leave the company affairs to your alone?”

“Xiao Qiang, rest assured. Whatever, your second brother is a man of duty.” Xia Yu didn’t know how to comfort Shen Qiang. So did Shen Qiang.

“Sister, thank you!” Shen Qiang didn’t expect that Mother would rise to compete with his brothers at this period, too, which made him feel helpless.

The two had a chat in the lobby. Because Shen Qiang had to negotiate with the families of the dead person, he excused himself. Looking at the image of Shen Qiang’s back, Xia Yu suddenly felt sad.

In the evening, she went to Shen Yan’s villa. She thought it was necessary to have a good talk with him.

However, Shen Yan seemingly didn’t want to talk. He held Xia Yu and went into the room. Xia Yu unexpectedly didn’t refuse him. To some extent, she was a little proactive, which made Shen Yan feel surprised.

He couldn’t figure out why he had a crush on her body, but she seemingly brought surprise to him every time.

Indifferent, resigned, rebellious or unyielding, these characteristics composed Xia Yu. This time, she was still different from what she was in the past. She was a little proactive, mingled with a bit of timid bewilderment. It seemingly showed that her eyes were dark and cold under the light above but they were staring at a distant place, not him….

“What are you thinking about?”

The woman under his body didn’t move. Shen Yan was a bit frustrated so he bent to bite her, playing a prank, which made Xia Yu sober due to pain.

“What were you thinking about?” Shen Yan was mad. How could she be absent-minded at this moment? Couldn’t she stay focused?

“Nothing!” Xia Yu came back to reality from her reverie. As she gathered up her mind, she began feeling more and more cold and frightened….

Shen Yan kept holding Xia Yu in the bed. He didn’t want to move because of the fatigue all over his body. But he felt relieved in his heart. The moment at present was the only thing that made him feel comfortable recently.

The two kept that position in the bed for a while. The person before him was still silent.
