My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar

Chapter 191: Taking gifts while giving shallow promises

Yun Jhin smiled as he took the spatial ring and stashed it safely before his eyes met Gu Manshu's. The old man had made quite the big investment in Yun Jhin even knowing about his personality, he even mentioned earlier how backstabbing he was but he still easily gave out the fruits.

Yun Jhin didn't know if the man really gambled on this one or was did he do something to the fruits?

Yun Jhin wasn't dumb he wouldn't use them until he analyzed all of them properly and if he did do something to them Yun Jhin was pretty knowledgeable about these fruits as he could make them himself, but it would take him a long while combined with the fact that he didn't have the seeds to plant the tree that could bear the fruits nor the ingredients to make them grow.

The growing of such fruits was very tedious even for devilish cultivators who could even kill in their sleep, it wasn't that there was a lack of ingredients but the fact that the number of kills that needed to be done was above what the righteous sects could accept.

Take Yun Jhin's blood river, for example, the number of people he massacred was within the limits of the sect's acceptance but the number of people that have to be killed for the trees to bear fruit was way above what they could endure as it was around 1 billion people or so, it was basically destroying a whole planet. And from what Yun Jhin understood Yuan Fang was already wanted in the universe for what he did so it was obvious what would happen if Yun Jhin who had an unmovable headquarters would do the same thing as Yuan Fang.

Seeing that Yun Jhin took his gift made the old man a little bit happier, considering that in such situations if one took a gift they would have to reciprocate with favor or a gift of equal importance, and considering how precious the fruits were there was no way the current Yun Jhin could give a gift of the same quality.

Yun Jhin was in an awkward place by accepting the fruits at least that's how the old man saw him.

Yun Jhin coughed as he said:

"I can promise you that I will help you but if things get a little bit too hairy for me I can only retreat as I cannot fight the patriarch or the ancestors of the Brilliance Radiance and Light sect, however for those below the peak of the God Realm you can count on me to fight them, anything else you need help with or can I return to my cultivation?"

The old man put his sharp finger on his chin as he thought about it for a short while before he said:

"Actually I need some help with something else, you are a potentate of reincarnation and your techniques are top-notch, I would like your help to fix my problem with the other willpower in my soul."

It seemed the old man was suffering from the same things as Yuan Fang but unlike him, the old man should have already made peace with his other willpower as he already reached the peak of the God Realm and all he wanted to do was get rid of the extra willpowers that were still trying to take over his body, but with his current power they were only annoyances or flies that would buzz above his head.

Yun Jhin had the perfect technique to give him and if he did help him with this he would have an excuse when it came to the time he would have to come and reinforce him.

Seeing that Yun Jhin was ready to accept made the old man quite happy but also wary at the same time, he knew that if he asked too many favors from him he would rescind on some other ones.

He didn't actually think that Yun Jhin would come to him with reinforcements but he first asked for a bigger favor while giving him something that he would need so the next favor he asked of him could be pretty much secured.

Yun Jhin knew that he had been fooled into giving him the technique but it was a better trade-off than him going to reinforce him whenever he will get assaulted by the Brilliance Radiance and Light sect.

Yun Jhin started to give him the soul circulation technique along with the mantra that he had to recite to create memory cores in which he could seal the other willpowers along with a lengthy explanation on how the technique worked, afterward he even asked him to swear on his soul to not give the technique to anyone else!

The old man didn't really like swearing and contracts just like all of the old fogies, they felt like those who asked this of them were looking down on their moral conduct but considering that he was someone from the dao of evil it was a little bit easier to swallow.

And the more he learned from Yun Jhin the more he realized why he wanted to keep the technique a secret from the other people's ears. If all of the reincarnated ones got their hands on this technique they could resolve all of their problems and their cultivation speed in their early stages would skyrocket to Yun Jhin's level!

Most of the time the willpowers from the earlier lives would mess with you while you were weak and your soul wasn't at 100% but the stronger you got the easier it was to tame them, but they would always mess with you when you would breakthrough into a new cultivation realm which in turn could make you enter cultivation deviation and either lose your mind or perish, the first option being perfect for the willpowers who were fighting each other to take control of the body.

Thus after a short while, the man swore on his soul using the Godly laws that he learned that he wouldn't ever share the technique with anyone else as long as he lived.

Yun Jhin found a problem immediately in the man's vow, once he died the vow would break, and after he reincarnated he would surely be able to break the vow and share the information!

However, Yun Jhin didn't say anything, this was his last attempt at reaching Godhood as once he died in this life he wouldn't be able to reincarnate again so he didn't really care what the man would do anymore after his death.

He waved his hand indicating that Gu Manshu could leave now, the man laughed wickedly and disappeared flying away just like a hunchbacked angel of darkness.

Yun Jhin shook his head seeing him disappearing and informed the duo that they could return to the palace as he disappeared below into the cave.

He dropped into the mist emanating from the blood river as he took in a deep breath then took out the spatial ring that he had stashed into his clothes before looking through it once again.

He now analyzed the mountains of fruits with critical eyes as he unleashed his soul willpower to see if Gu Manshu did anything to them so he could hurt Yun Jhin but after tens of hours of analyzation he found out nothing of worth.

He then dissected one fruit and looked at its insides better as he fully focused his soul willpower as if it was a magnifier to look through the DNA chains of the fruit.

After he didn't find anything that could make the fruits bad for him he heaved a sigh, even though he couldn't look through all of them this way he knew how hard it would be to insert something poisonous into the DNA sequence of the fruits after they were done and it was impossible for Gu Manshu to waste his time on doing this.

He still had to cultivate and ponder the rules of the universe as the man wanted to break through the peak of the God Realm into the next just like every other peak God realm expert.

Yun Jhin body sunk under the river as he opened his mouth and a few fruits were bitten clean, the juices and soul fragments of those that were used to nourish the growth of the fruits immediately entered Yun Jhin's system as his ki pathways started to roar to life.

Yun Jhin's eyes opened up as the crimson energy from the river fused with the energy from the fruits and his cultivation started moving quickly, he was going to break through to the 7th stage of the sage realm in one go!

The energy from the fruits was very volatile as they were meant to be used by those that wanted to break through to the God Realm but Yun Jhin could nullify its volatility and use them at the sage realm to basically speedrun it!
