I Have Become A Demon God. Did You Just Ask Me To Be A Minor Villain?

Chapter 32: The Queen’s Worry! The protagonist is here!

“Are you sure that it is effective?” Su Mo asked as he heard the soft groan from the magic array.

Su Mo was reasonably confident of its effectiveness based on the purity of his soul as measured. This was because he had been evolving his soul since his phantom blood had reached a particular stage.

For the Holy See, the purity of one’s soul was considered a reflection of their level of purity. For instance, the Queen of the Crescent had a very high level of soul purity, which the Holy See of the Crescent tested. However, if she were to be tested by the Holy See of another deity, she would likely fail.

Overall, Su Mo was confident that his soul was pure enough to succeed in the magic array.

Su Mo possessed an incredibly pure soul due to his phantom bloodline evolving to a highly advanced stage. While his bloodline stage was already exceptionally high, he understood that lineage alone did not necessarily equate to strength. Nonetheless, a higher bloodline did offer faster growth and more significant potential.

Due to his lofty bloodline, Su Mo was experiencing a rapid surge in strength within the Demon God realm. Even without any other special abilities, his power was constantly increasing. Su Mo’s phantom bloodline was not inferior to the innate bloodlines of many mighty Demon Gods.

During the evolution process, Su Mo experienced several other changes beyond the purity of his soul. As a result, he was now more than capable of maintaining a high level of soul purity, even if tested by the Holy See of another deity.

He also knew if he suddenly appeared with such a high soul purity. With the proper identity and status, he could be subject to control and investigation by the Holy See. This was precisely why Su Mo had spent so much time in the Crescent Kingdom, carefully building his reputation and power within the region.

As the situation at the magic array grew more tense, one of the other bishops spoke up. “Master Fellen, Is there a problem with the magic array?” He asked, his voice laced with concern.

Master Fellen, or the Cardinal, shook his head firmly. “Impossible. This is a holy magic array bestowed upon us by the goddess. There can be no problems,” he replied confidently.

Although, the other bishop was still worried. “Then how do we deal with this matter?” He pressed.

The Cardinal sighed. “We must pray and see what the goddess intends. As for the Earl of Blackstone Territory…” he trailed off, glancing at the Queen of the Crescent Moon. The unspoken implication was clear: they needed to tread carefully, which could cause great political unrest.

The purity of the soul was incredibly high. If it were someone else, they would need to be vetted thoroughly by the Holy See and undergo various background investigations.

The world of the gods had special operating rules reinforced by the heavenly deities, who couldn’t easily act in the mortal realm to avoid harming ordinary people. If the Demon God of the Abyss were to descend into the realm of the gods, it would be greatly suppressed, and the heavenly deities would only intervene in a major crisis.

In such situations, the gods could bestow power upon the Holy Son or Holy Maiden in the Holy See. The higher the purity of the soul, the easier it was to communicate with God and the more power one could receive from them.

If Su Mo had been an ordinary person and cleared the necessary background checks, he would have been eligible to train in the Holy See. If the Crescent Goddess was interested in him, she might have made him the new Holy Son.

Su Mo was not an ordinary person. He was the renowned Earl of Blackstone Territory, and his relationship with the Queen of the Crescent Moon was far from ordinary. Therefore, the Cardinal’s decision would ultimately hinge on the Crescent Queen’s opinion.

The Crescent Queen glanced at Su Mo and replied, “Since the inspection has yielded no issues, I will take him with me for now and await further instructions from the Goddess.” The Cardinal contemplated momentarily and agreed, “Alright, I will accompany the Saint.”

With that, he closed the holy magic array using the magic disk in his hand. “Let’s proceed,” the Crescent Queen said, approaching Su Mo.

“What’s going on, Your Majesty?” Su Mo feigned ignorance and inquired.

After a brief hesitation, the Queen of the Crescent Moon revealed, “The inspection revealed no issues, and you are free to participate in the blessing ceremony. Although, there was a slight mishap.”

Su Mo listened attentively as the Queen of the Crescent Moon spoke. She revealed that his soul’s purity was exceptionally high, even surpassing hers. If the Goddess confirmed his suitability, there was a chance he would be chosen as the Holy Son. The Queen was concerned about the possibility since being appointed as the Holy Son would mean he could never marry.

The Queen tried to ease Su Mo’s worry by saying, “Don’t worry too much. The Goddess has never had a Holy Son before. She may give you more blessings instead.”

Although the Crescent Queen was worried, she managed to ease Su Mo’s concerns. Su Mo said, “Being a Holy Son is not important to me.”

Upon hearing this, the Crescent Queen’s anxious heart immediately relaxed. She replied, “I’ll inform you as soon as the Goddess has an oracle. Additionally, the palace has a side hall where you can stay for a few days. This way, I can assure the Holy See.”

Su Mo agreed and said, “That sounds good.”

The Crescent Queen was pleased with his response and led him to the side hall in the palace.

“My lord, I will leave this person in your care,” said the referee, handing the unconscious protagonist to Su Mo in the dungeon.

Alia, the female officer brought by Su Mo, put the protagonist in a space bag capable of holding people.

Su Mo took a glance around the court’s dungeon. According to the instructions on the villain panel, another protagonist should be here. Once a villain reached the silver level, the panel would display a specific distance warning when they were too close to the protagonist.

Without saying much, Su Mo left the dungeon with the captured protagonist in town.

“After Su Mo left, the Earl of Blackstone Territory took him away. Unfortunately, the judge’s magic was too powerful, and I couldn’t wake him up,” said a man in a black robe among the protagonists in the dungeon.

This man was the protagonist imprisoned in the court’s dungeon. He was considered a small boss among the group, but he couldn’t speak. After the new protagonist was thrown into jail, he tried to wake him up and figure out how Su Mo captured him. However, his efforts were in vain.

“Damn it, the time is too short. I better continue signing in here. The referee is relatively independent in the Holy See, and we can’t even try to infiltrate it,” he thought.

His golden finger was the sign-in system, so he planned to hide in the dungeon and silently sign in to become stronger. Due to limited time and cheat level, his strength wasn’t particularly strong.
