Chapter 42: Noble Families

Stolux Chamber of Commerce...

A huge crowd of the people could be seen standing in front of the chamber of commerce. Most of them were just ordinary folks, came here to have a glimpse of some big shots.

Everyone knew today's event wasn't a simple auction like usual. Adamantine was too precious for a metal element mages. Moreover, there won't be only the mages of the Stolux kingdom. People from other kingdoms also appear in the auction.

Ayaan looked at the crowd and was surprised by seeing the huge number of people standing in front of him.

Although the auction house was attached to the chamber of commerce, which was the hub for other businesses. The auction house only opens once in a week only for the auctioning.

Furthermore, in the bidding, other people could also place their treasures to be auctioned, as Ayaan did. However, they had to pay a fee to the auction house to auction their treasures.

Anyway, Ayaan looked at the entrance of the chamber of commerce and saw a long queue was already standing in front of the entrance.

Most of these people were going to take a look inside the auction house and had no intention of participating in the bidding.

Nonetheless, just the entering fee of the auction house wasn't something, which could be afforded by commoners. Even then, a huge queue was lining at the gate of the chamber of commerce.

"Sir?"

As Ayaan was thinking about joining the queue in front of him, a sweet voice resounded from behind him.

When he turned around, a familiar face appeared in front of him.

"What are you doing here?" Ayaan asked in a surprised voice.

The lady looked at Ayaan and then Rebecca. When her eyes passed through Rebecca, a surprised expression appeared on her face. Although Rebecca was wearing a veil, it wasn't enough to hide her beauty.

Nevertheless, the lady was professional, she didn't show any expression on her face and replied politely, "Madam manager has sent me to invite you to your separate room. Not a lot of people know about sir. Therefore, our manager sent me, because I am one of the few people who has seen sir."

"Oh, I have a separate room. That's very thoughtful of Isobel. Please, thank her on my behalf," Ayaan nodded and said to the lady.

When the lady heard him calling the manager by her name, a scared look appeared on her face. Almost, everyone in the chamber of commerce knew about the identity of the manager.

If someone had heard him calling their princess by her name, it wouldn't be a good thing for Ayaan.

As she was about to warn him, Ayaan again said, "Alright, let's go."

After hearing Ayaan, the lady swallowed her words and started to lead the way.

When the group reached the entrance, the guards didn't stop them and continued to collect the fee from the people who wanted to enter the auction house.

Subsequently, the vast hall greeted the group, Ayaan had already been here; so, he wasn't interested in checking anything in the surrounding. However, Rebecca was looking at every glass counter selling the different kinds of things with her curious eyes.

Nonetheless, the lady didn't stop and went directly on the second floor.

Suddenly, Ayaan remembered something and asked the lady, "Ahh, I forgot to ask your name. May I know the beautiful name of the beautiful lady?"

Rebecca, who was at the side heard him and rolled her eyes at him. 'This bastard is so ruthless to his enemies, but he can still act like a gentleman in front of a lady,' Rebecca though inside her head.

Nevertheless, Ayaan continued to smile at the counter blady.

However, after hearing Ayaan's question, the lady became flushed red. It was the first time someone had asked her politely her name, " Si-sir, my name is Em-Emma."

"Emma, a beautiful name indeed," Ayaan again praised, making the lady even more embarrassed.

Without realising the group had already reached the third floor. Afterwards, Emma walked towards one of the rooms on the third floor. Ayaan and Rebecca looked at the gate; number one was written at the entrance.

Subsequently, Ayaan turned towards the other rooms and saw a number was written at the entrance of every gate.

Finally, Emma opened the door, and entered it, followed by the duo. Finally, a view of the room appeared in front of Ayaan and Rebecca.

The first thing which attracted Ayaan's gaze was the glass wall. Ayaan looked outside the glass and saw a huge platform.

Thousands of the seats were placed in front of the platform. Moreover, the seats were already more than half-filled.

Furthermore, Ayaan realised that the Auction-platform wasn't on the third floor but on the second floor instead.

On the other hand, these special rooms were built on the third floor. So, special guests could see the whole auction hall without any trouble, very thoughtful.

Ayaan was impressed by the design of the auction hall. Although it also shows clear discrimination between the treatment of the people. However, that's how things worked in this world — If you have enough power, you can rule the empire; but if you are weak, you won't even have the right to die by your own will.

Thereupon, Ayaan turned his gaze towards the table at the centre of the room. Beside the table, a big sofa was placed.

Ayaan walked towards the sofa and sat on it with Rebecca, while Emma remained standing behind Ayaan.

At first, Ayaan thought about inviting Emma, but then realised that it could affect the job of the lady and dropped the idea.

There was still time for the auction to start; therefore, Ayaan decided to find out some information from Emma. He turned towards the lady and asked, "Can you tell me about this so-called 'Daniel the Savage'?"

Emma heard his question and became a little distracted when she realised that he was talking so casually about Daniel. Nevertheless, the lady collected her thoughts and replied to Ayaan, "Sir, he is the young master of the "Lawson" family. Moreover, the Lawson family is considered the most powerful family in the kingdom after the Royal family."

At this time Emma took a deep breath and continued, "Recently, there was a rumour that the patriarch of the Lawson family had broken through to the great-mage realm, but no one knows about the credibility of the rumour."

Ayaan looked at Emma and felt that something was missing. He heard in the jungle that Declan guy was saying that the king was eager to marry Noor to Daniel. However, how could someone who had just broken through to the great mage made the king bestow his daughter in their family? There must be something missing.

Ayaan thought of many possibilities, but couldn't put his hands on the situation; he again turned towards Emma.

"Are you sure, there is only a single great mage in the Lawson family?" Ayaan looked at the lady in confusion.

Emma was surprised by his reaction, then explained, "Yes, sir, you are right. There are four families with almost similar strength: Lawson, Holgan, Lanler and Ferlee. Every family has an ancestor of the great mage rank.

However, the stability of the kingdom was disturbed when the patriarch of the Lawson family broke to the great mage. Now, the rumour has been spreading in the capital that the Lawson family wants to replace the royal family."

After hearing her, Ayaan became even more confused. If the situation was this dire, then why the king wanted to marry Noor in the Lawson family.

'He is the king of the middle-grade kingdom. He must be reaching the peak of the great mage. He could easily suppress the Lawson family if he wanted then why didn't he do it. Moreover, he is even planning to bestow his daughter in their family?' Ayaan thought in confusion.

Furthermore, Ayaan also suspected that the king wasn't the single great mage in the royal family.

Suddenly, a possibility appeared in his mind and Ayaan's eyes went wide in shock when he thought about it. Then, a shocked expression covered by a deep smirk.

'What a cunning old fellow.' Ayaan thought and a carefree smile appeared on his face.

Afterwards, Ayaan turned towards Emma and asked, "Do you have any news about the king?"

Emma looked at him in a suspicious look, and hesitation appeared on her face.

Ayaan saw the hesitation on her face; therefore, he reassured her, "Don't worry, I promise that your words won't go out form this room."

Finally, Emma nodded and told him everything she knew about the current condition of the king, "There was a rumour sometime before that the condition of the king isn't very good and the wounds from his previous battle have opened. Due to that, the king has secluded himself. Now, he doesn't meet anyone except his trusted people."

After hearing her explanation, Ayaan nodded and didn't ask any more information. It was enough to prove his previous speculations.

"What a trickster." Ayaan murmured, but a pleasant smile never left the corner of his lips.

Although he still wanted to solidify his speculation by gaining more information. However, he couldn't expect any more information from Emma than this. He had to find the truth on his own. But for now, it was enough for him.
