Game’s Dogma

Chapter 341: Sunny Day Showers

Drako Yau placed his full attention on the faraway sniper. He couldn’t afford to spare even a glance at his surroundings. Only at that moment did he realise how naive he was.

After entering the game, he had been growing stronger at breakneck speed. Enlightenment to Frost Form and Flame Form, creation of the yin-yang symbol within him, greater proficiency with the spear and Dragon Seeker, all kinds of powerful equipment… Everything bolstered his strength to extreme heights. Even though the previous duel with Zeus ended up in a draw, Fatty the Castellan revealed that he overpowered Zeus in the wrestle of brute force. His strength only increased further after acquiring Boiling Form.

Drako Yau thought no player apart from Zeus could rival him.

But everyone had their strengths. The prowess Drako Yau had been so proud of was so feeble before the sniper’s shots. It was reminiscent of his battle against Hibiscus; how could he counterattack when the enemy was far beneath his reach?

The feeling of powerlessness was all the more apparent this time. Hibiscus was at least within sight, albeit out of his reach, allowing him to react to the soaring martial artist’s attacks. However, he couldn’t even pinpoint the enemy now because his Frost Form only had an effective range of a hundred metres. He could only react passively to the storm of incoming attacks.

Seven hundred metres away, Hawk lay still like a statue. He lay prone on the ground, his left hand gently supporting his rifle while his right rested on its trigger. A textbook sniping position it was, for Hawk was a soldier in real life, a sniper to be exact.

Right now, his target had his full attention. His concentration seemed to have converted into an aura which poured into his weapon.

Boom! Even his old buddy Tong had yet to get used to the deafening sounds.

Drako Yau felt a severe threat to his life the moment Hawk fired the shot. He looked up into the sky. From the front? No! The bullet is… veering upwards?

His Frost Form enhanced mind quickly ran through all possibilities in less than a split second. He only had time to shout, “Protect yourselves! Greenstone, protect Nobunaga!”

Drako Yau’s warning baffled the others, but they did as ordered regardless.

The Oda army was marching towards the sun, a disadvantage in battle. The blazing sun affected their vision and dazzled their eyes. However, this did not affect Drako Yau.

The bullet, trailed by a slither of smoke, exploded into smithereens right above Drako Yau’s head. Sparkling droplets peppered down from the sky. Countless fragments rained down upon the Oda army along with the warm rays of sunlight.

Level 40 Ranger skill of the Physical Marksmanship skill tree, Rain. The skill name varied based on the user’s weapon; it’d be Rain of Bullets for rifle wielders and Rain of Arrows for archers. This was the skill used by the Ranger Skill Master during The Siege.

Drako Yau waved his spear to form an impenetrable barrier. It reminded him of the days when the old geezer would bombard him with random objects. His spear deflected every fragment that it came into contact with. Even though he was physically enhanced by Flame Form, his fingers were starting to ache. He would’ve fallen back without hesitation under normal circumstances, but as Oda Nobunaga was still charging, he didn’t have much choice.

Drako Yau cast his gaze to his companions. Greenstone had accelerated ahead of Oda Nobunaga and leapt into the air. Seeing the buffed man leap with such agility was an odd sight.

Faced with the rain of bullets, Greenstone turned his palms white—White Jade Hand, the skill he obtained from John the crazy scientist. His movements appeared slow, yet none of the fragments could pierce through his line of defence to reach Oda Nobunaga.

Drako Yau felt a wave of dizziness from looking at Greenstone’s movements. It had to be the effect of Tai-Chi. With White Jade Hand and Tai-Chi in his arsenal, Greenstone was a decent fighter despite his class.

While Rain of Bullets dealt significant damage, its area of effect was fairly limited. Zephyrwolf, Drako Yau, Greenstone, and Oda Nobunaga were the only ones in range. Sasaki wasn’t affected as he was stationed at the rear. On the other hand, Zephyrwolf acted immediately upon hearing Drako Yau’s shout, just as he had in the Demon Wolf Cave. He hid behind Oda Nobunaga’s horse and was sheltered by Greenstone.

Windstrider and Danting travelled at lightning speed. As a ranger, Windstrider’s base movement speed was the best among all basic classes. Their innate agility allowed them to engage the enemy while on the move. While warriors could use Dash to speed up, it was a skill that had cooldown and couldn’t be activated alongside other skills.

Danting wasn’t the quickest runner as a magic swordsman. However, he used lock-on skills on Akechi soldiers to cover as much ground as possible, allowing him to stay on Windstrider’s tail.

After a fair bit of running, someone blocked their way forwards.

“Fellas, stop right there,” Tong declared with a cigar in his mouth. He was a muscular man with a tiny shrub of beard.

The two halted their legs subconsciously; the person’s intense aura made them stop.

“Strider, go. I’ll cover you.” Danting threw that behind and charged forwards, leaving Windstrider dumbfounded.

When did this lad become aware of combat tactics? Windstrider thought.

The truth was, Danting only charged in because he sensed a thrilling battle ahead of him. He claimed to buy time for Windstrider so he could fight a powerful opponent. He was so eager to fight that he didn’t give Windstrider time to respond—he feared that Windstrider might snatch his enemy away if he did!
