Evolution: A Warlock's Rise To Power

Chapter 281: After The Raid

Since the party dungeon had been completed once before, it was easy enough to complete it again.  The party of five walked out of the instance with half and hour to spare.

[Congratulations, you have claimed this instance for yourself.  You are now the dungeon master in control of it.]

Silent and the others congratulated Lucan who nodded happily.

Once the other thirty five players heard that he had succeeded, they were all dismissed.  It had been a lot of fighting over the past day, so most of them went back to rest, but made plans to return. They knew Lucan would be opening the instance to the public in the morning.  Even though Fleet Commander Richard didn't find the pirate king's buried treasure, a few players thought that they may have a chance.

Lucan was eager to head back into the instance and check it out from the backside.  It was easy for a dungeon master in control to unravel the secrets of the instance.

But Silent didn't let him.  It was already late, so the two of them went back to their pent house.

Lucan was sad at first, but that was a fleeting emotion.  The instance would still be there tomorrow. Once he put it out of his mind, he happily stripped out of his armor and dove under the covers of his bed to snuggle close to his wife.

And she had been right, they were both pretty tired.  In less than a minute, both of them had already fallen asleep.

When the sun rose the next morning, Silent and Lucan enjoyed a hearty breakfast before they went their separate ways.  Silent had agreed to spend the day with her sister.  And Heaven's Kiss had been persuade by Marie to take her and the two girls mother around the wilderness for an adventure.  Lucan was going to join them but his wife was good to him and encourage him to go check out his new instance since she knew that was what he really wanted to do.

Lucan returned to the dungeon bar and entered the basement.  Stepping through the shadow tunnel he arrived before the entrance to the instance.  With a few steeps he was inside.  The raid was what interested him the most.  Taking stock of what was inside, Lucan was surprised to find that their was actually a pirate king's treasure hidden in the raid.

The only issue was, the treasure chest spawned at random and would change locations each time a group came in.  Even if a team found it once, they may not be able to find it again.  Apparently there were three rare drops from bosses in the instance, one in the party dungeon, one in the team dungeon, and one in the raid.  They were all parts of a treasure map that was randomly generated.

Once a group had two parts, the pirate King's treasure would appear on a certain island mentioned by the map, but without the third piece, you wouldn't know where to dig.  It may take several weeks to search the whole island for the treasure.  So basically, one either needed all three pieces or incredible luck.

Once Lucan knew that the pirate king's treasure was real, he wanted to find out what was inside. Through the dungeon master interface, it was an easy enough task.  What surprised him was that it was only gold.  And currently it wasn't even a lot of gold.  But after reading he realized that the amount would change.  Each time a player died in the instance, five gold pieces would be deposited into the treasure chest.  The pirat king's treasure would keep growing and growing until one day, someone discovered it and claimed the gold for themselves.  At that point, the number would reset and start to climb all over.

After finding this out, Lucan knew he had to advertise this face.  Sure the number was small right now, but the players weren't dumb.  How popular would the instance be once the pirate king's treasure rose to over a million gold pieces.  He decided that each time he passed, he would come by and let others know how high the jackpot had reached.

After finding out about the treasure, Lucan began to look into the bosses.  Of course there was the kraken, but he thought that the first two pirate captain were pretty easy to beat. But after looking through the menus he realized that it wasn't always that way.  If the pirates made it to land, then they transform into a large monster, similar but different to the Fleet Commanders transformation.

The three captains would also undergo a change if they entered the sirens territory.  For deep in the sirens territory was the queen of the sirens. She was a hidden boss.  It wasn't necessary to defeat her to clear to the raid, but you would have to overcome her and her minions if you wanted to claim the portion of the treasure map for the pirate king's treasure.

Lucan had originally considered making changes to the instance, but after he played through all the levels he decided to leave it how it was.  For one, it would waste dungeon points that he currently didn't have, and two, he didn't think he could make it any more fun than it already was.

The party, team, and raid dungeon already made a good, entertaining story.  The bosses were fun, their were pirate battles at sea.  There were fights against a sea monster.  And there was even a portion where you searched an island looking for pirates that were searching for treasure.

Exiting the instance, Lucan went back to the first floor of the dungeon tavern.  He let the receptionist know that the new instance was now open.  Behind the receptionist was a large black board that held the description for all the dungeons that were connected to the tavern.

Lucan went forward and wrote the description for the party, team, and raid dungeon.  The last thing he did was write the rules for the pirate king's treasure and what the current amount of gold coins was.  Next to that, he wrote the time and the date.

Once he was done, he stepped back and nodded.  He was happy with what he saw.

There were already players in the tavern.  The ones who had reservations several hours from now, didn't bother sitting around and drinking the tavern.  They went straight into the instance to give it a try until their reservation time was ready.

With that done, Lucan walked out into Destol.  He had spent most of the morning staring at the dungeon menus, now it was around Lunch time.  He stopped into a player run restaurant and picked up a lunch to go.  Lucan was very happy with how Destol was developing.  It was less like a medieval city and more like a modern city with a medieval skin wrapped around it.

After his lunch, Lucan received a message from Super.

'Hey Lucan, when you get a chance, come check out my floating city.  It is starting to develop well. And we also need to talk about the drow.  It looks like they are starting to set up defenses in Avalon in Baramore.  My guess is that they plan on staying there.'
