A Story of Evil

Chapter 53: The Start

"Quick they've got to be around here somewhere!"

"But how are you so sure Volt?"

"Idiots. Didn't you hear the announcer? They came to the golems in this area meaning, they probably have an item up their sleeve that can take those things down."

"Yeah but they're not even activated yet."

"Well duh, that's because we came before they could set it off. We were so fast that king Nova and his flame titans wasn't even able to do anything about it hahaha!"

The lightning titans searched everywhere. With the little hints left by Sol, they thought they were geniuses that were preying on some brain-dead Voids. Little did they know that, it was the other way around.

The nine domains lacked a single thing in common; battle analysis. They all had powers or of course. They were also trained. But, during that long time of preparation, the only thing that they focused in developing was their physique. Endurance. Strength. Reflexes. Powers enhancement. These were the only main parts of their training.

Strategy also played a part of course but, in their heads, they all thought the same thing. That the strongest didn't need a strategy and that, no matter what happens, the strongest will always come out on top. That same mentality proved to be their downfall.

The ground rumbled as the sound of explosion came. Smoke enveloped the area and suddenly, a large shadow loomed over the group. Right on top of them, a large building was about to fall.

"HIT IT!" Volt, the leading titan screamed as everyone casted their strongest lightning attack in order to split the building into pieces. And they were successful, disintegrating it down to the very last block.

"IS THIS HOW YOU FIGHT YOU COWARDS!" He screamed, irritated by the fact that they were forced to use their ultimate spells from the start. Yet, this was the least of their worries.

The ground began rumbling. There was the sound of mechanisms starting and steam pumping out. With rustic metal parts clanking against each other in a labored sound. One member of the group turned and his eyes widened as he gave the heads up to their leader.

"Volt!" There was no mistaking it, the golems activated.

"They probably think that they can win by putting us up against golems!" Volt and his team was forced to fight the golems because it would be too dangerous to turn tail and run.

Volt knew how to deal with these of course. Adding to the fact that golems gave huge points in the ranking system and that, the golems on the map were naturally weak to them, Volt began commanding their assault.

"Just target its core! Use your lightning spells and take it down!" He fired first and as soon as he did, the other four members followed suit.

"Ahh this is a piece of cake." One female member said, looking like she was giving her all but nevertheless capable of holding out.

There were three golems in total. The creatures were already standing up when the lightning hit them but, other than that, the group couldn't see much. Smoke rose from where their targets were and it continued thickening until they were covered entirely by the smoke created by their attack.

"Man is this all they could do?" Volt said, feeling lucky that they could get high points from golems right away. Yet, even before they could finish casting, two members of the group fell to the ground. They didn't even have time to respond as, two heads were cleanly slit off their shoulders. The last one tried to move her spell to the assailant but this was easily dodged; placing bullet through the head of the last lightning titan.

Soon enough another figure came out of the smoke.

"Good job Alice." Sol said, throwing a grenade at the golems; killing the monsters and gaining all the points to themselves.

"Same to you boy genius." The two exchanged high fives.

Alice looked at the decapitated head of of the lightning domain's leader. She kicked it, making the thing roll towards its body.

"You were right. They really are a bit brain dead."

"Yeah the initial shock was enough to distract them from their surroundings. Plus firing all their skills ensured that they couldn't fight back since, they were so focused on taking down the golems."

The two actually hid near the area. Using their camouflage cloaks, it was difficult for them to be seen. Aside from this, Sol also knew of one area that could easily be a blind spot when attacking the golems.

The monsters only activated when they detected a strong surge in electricity. This was the reason why Sol needed to destroy one building, all for the titans to use up their powers to taking it down. This left them each lightning titan with one skill that needed to cool down. All while meeting the requirement to activate the golems.

The idiots then focused their spell casts on the golems. With this distraction, they didn't even notice that a smokescreen was actually mixed with the smoke from their attack. And with all the noise, the light footed Alice began to close in, stabbing two right at their chest and, slicing off two heads while shooting the last one.

"Man [Danger Sense] really fits me so well. It feels like my body is as light as a feather." Alice said, picking up the loot left by the lightning titans. By being killed that early on, the lightning titans weren't even able to use any of their supplies.

"Oh yeah? Don't be too proud of yourself though, you might overstep in a fight if you think too highly of a single passive skill." Sol mentioned, also placing looted items on his bag.

"Why do you need to be so grumpy about it?"

"I'm not though. Just stating facts."

"But hey, we actually did it didn't we? We just killed five titans."

"Yes we did. Now all that's left is the commotion that this'll cause."

While the two were calmly talking between themselves. The thing Sol mentioned was actually underway. All beginning with the announcement of Quinn and Kaguya, coupled with the numbers on the scoreboard.

"A-Are you all seeing what we are seeing?" Quinn began.

"Yes I am partner. There semes to be some sort of technical problem with the programing group so please wait and calm down."

Queen Electra wasn't irritated nor furious. No. She was devastated. All the names of their five titans including Volt, the son of his brother, they were all crossed out. This meant that they were already dead. Taken out even before thirty minutes has passed since their drop. And to add salt to the injury, it was even done by two powerless Void titans.

"L-ladies and gentlemen…there is no problem with the system." Quinn spoke like he saw his first ex-wife returning from the grave.

"The Void Domain has completely wiped out the Lightning Titans before the next transport was even made! And to top it all off they have destroyed the golems, giving them a whooping [10,000] point lead in the scoreboard!" Kaguya was the only one speaking at that point.

"Well, we know who'll get the worst part of the plantation now right partner?"

"R-right." Quinn was part of the Lightning Domain, explaining why his reaction was so grim.

At that moment, the Lightning domain was at a loss for words. They were beginning to internalize what was going to happen to them. They were going to work within the lowest part of Eden. Harvesting rodents and insects for a whole year.

Yet nobody was as frightened as Queen Electra. In fact, with such a cruel twist of fate, she came to the Void Domain's quarters. Finding King Jubilee there with a wide grin on his face. After all, it was the moment he waited for.

"Jubilee I – "

"A thousand citizens."

"What?"

"Let's cut to the chase Lightning Queen. I know why you came to me. You'll beg for your precious domain to not be put in my domain's spot, right?" King Jubilee was authoritative, not even giving room for the queen to state any offer.

"So that's what you'll need?"

"Yes. Give me a thousand of your citizens. It doesn't matter where they came from or what status they have." The king was so sure with his words that Electra was somehow irritated. It was like she was made a fool; as if everything that was happening at that point had been planned by the Void king.

"Jubilee…don't you think that's too much?"

"Too much? You're basically asking me to rob my citizens of having a better life through a bountiful plantation. And you're telling me that what I'm asking is too much? Get off your high horse." The queen clenched her fist. She was already at bad terms with Nova for getting the flame domain's spot on teleporting next.

After getting beaten by the weakest domain, she knew that the other eight domains will also begin treating her and her citizens as inferior beings. That's why she needed to lessen the blow. To swallow her pride and accept what was being offered at that moment.

"Alright. I'll send them to you after the Culling ends."

"No."

"What?"

"I need them now. Send all those citizens to my castle now."

"Jubilee that's – "

"What? Can't pull some strings for me? I can make our agreement harder for you so watch wat you'll say next." It was checkmate. The queen had no way to negotiate.

"Okay. By sundown the citizens will be transported to your domain. I cannot make it earlier than that since I need to make the necessary arrangements."

"Fine by me." Jubilee said, watching the queen bite her lips as she left in utter humiliation.

It was the beginning of a new dawn. The sun was finally beginning to rise for the Void domain and, at that moment, the only thing that the king could feel was genuine ecstasy. He thought of the pawns that were on the board at that moment and how useful they were in their jobs.

"Good job Sol. Let's begin showing them what it feels like to be the weakest."
