Book II: Brinus Helios - From Criminal to Hero

From Criminal to Herofeatures epic space battles, a romance subplot, space mages, magic, and of course the hero Brinus, a wild child military officer. He is a rebellious young rogue with a penchant for addiction who has to be broken into the military from a life of crime. Can he become a naval officer? Or will he crash and burn and end up hurt in prison? A former criminal from a syndicate will undergo military training and struggle with military life. He frequently gets into trouble with superiors; he has to quit a crack-like cigarette addiction. There are cat people, a major interstellar war, and a few major battles. The ship has drama, and it is LGBT-friendly, with a gay romance between the main character and his love interest. There are a lot of rebellious hijinks, magic, and general tomfoolery.
