Orc Hero Story: Discovery Chronicles

Chapter 78.1

Orc Hero Story

“¡Graaaaoooooowwwww!”

The war cry echoed. Familiar to humans, yet feared by the people, it was an orc war cry. The invasion had begun. The pillaging had begun. The r̲a̲ping had begun. That’s what that cry meant.

But the cry came from behind the people, behind the fleeing crowd, right at the gate where they had lost their escape route. It passed to stand between the people and the chilling monster. As if protecting the people.

When they looked back, there stood the back of a lone orc.

“Gruoaaahhhhhhh!”

Unmoved by the monstrous voice that deafened ears and sent chills, the orc charged forward. Everyone thought it was impossible for him to win. The monster’s enormous arm rose and lunged recklessly toward the orc.

Everyone thought he was crushed.

However, the very next moment, the monster’s enormous arm rose once again.

No, it wasn’t that. On closer inspection, one of the monster’s fingers was missing. Blood gushed out.

It had been cut off. The impact had thrown it upwards.

What in the world was happening? No, could such a thing be possible? No, it couldn’t be that. It was the orc. That orc, with the giant sword in his hand, had cut the monster’s finger.

Witnessing this scene, people’s mouth were left gaping. Indeed, even the monster seemed stunned. His severed finger, his forced-up arm seemed to say that it was unbelievable. There was a moment of stillness. Bash also remained motionless, prepared for something, unmoving.

The silence was broken by the voice of a single man.

“That was Sir Bash’s doing! Everyone, prepare!”

A clear voice echoed. On the rooftop, there was a blond-haired man, a figure every human had seen from a distance at least once. It was that prominent figure who stepped forward, inspired the people, and brought hope.

“Everyone, we will definitely defeat that monster! For now, think of nothing else, line up your steps and retreat!”

Human Prince Nazar. The people’s reactions to hearing his voice were dramatic. In an instant, they weakly smiled, immediately tightened their lips, and turned towards the gate. They were no longer a disorderly mob. Under their leader’s command, they had become a trained mechanical force, accustomed to retreats since childhood, performed numerous times on the battlefield.

“Highness Nazar! We are the former Harmonic Assault Unit! Whose orders should we follow?”

“Put yourselves under Hugo’s command!”

Renowned warriors who were supposed to have left the battlefield ran towards the front. Among the crowd, there were several champions who had gained fame on the battlefield despite retiring from military service. Residents from areas less affected by chaos took up their swords and joined in supporting the retreat.

“We, the White Panther Corps, will also assist!”

“Thank you!”

But that wasn’t all. A group of beastmen also joined the front. They were probably faster than the dwarves and elves, probably because Silviana had already taken the lead in action. Those stationed in the area had also hurried to join the battle.

“Hey, Nazar!”

“Lady Thunder Sonia!”

“Human forces are coming out of the castle. There are also beastmen, and Nemesia just went to gather elves and dwarves separately! Also, Bash is here!”

“Really!?”

“You leave this place to me. Go after Poplatica!”

Upon hearing those words, Nazar hesitated for a moment. The terrified people fleeing, the former champions leaping onto the monster one after another, and Bash was also here. The monster was restrained by Bash’s fierce attacks, allowing the humans following behind to shoot arrows, throw spears, and cast magic at will. Thanks to Bash’s appearance, the situation had rapidly changed in their favor. However, could he, the leader, leave this place now?

The command structure was reestablished, and as the townsfolk wielded their swords, the humans formed a formidable army. The race that had fought a long war, emerged victorious, and aspired to be the continent’s ruler was back.

In the midst of the crowd, there wasn’t much that an individual could do. So it would be more efficient to pursue Poplatica and retrieve the Human Scriptures, even if the probability of success was low. Still, Nazar was of royal blood. He had the duty to remain on the battlefield.

“If I leave here, who will extract information from Caspar?”

“You stupid! Bash has appeared. We’ll win when Caspar dies!”

“But!”

There was some agreement with those words. Bash probably wouldn’t know the true identity of that monster. When the time came to defeat it, the opponent would likely die. Everyone here knew that Bash wasn’t a warrior who left openings. Yet, even so…

“Even if I chased them now, I wouldn’t reach in time!”

“That’s right! But that swordswoman from earlier, the one with bandages on her face, she’s human!”

“!”

“Yes, you were curious too, right? We should check it out! Even if we can’t catch her, we should pursue her. Don’t you think?”

Those words made Nazar uncertain. Certainly, it was true. He had only seen her for a moment, but that swordswoman… was definitely…

“I… it’s just…”

If Nazar’s assumption was correct, it was someone he needed to pursue.

“Everyone, listen to me!” Nazar decided. He had to make sure. Even if it meant abandoning his duty as a human prince. “I will pursue those who unleashed this monster, so I entrust this place to you!”

With these words, Nazar left the battlefield under Thunder Sonia’s leadership.
