Heaven Destroyer

Chapter 194: Remember

"Nolan!" a desperate shout filled space as the man faced Heavenly Tribulation and fought with the lightning that descended upon him, trying to hack him into bits and pieces.

"Fuck you, heaven!" shouted Nolan as he swung his sword towards the descending lightning and booming almost deafened Eva and Leafwhisk's ears. Both of them could only watch him face the tribulation all alone.

"Why is this Heavenly Tribulation so intense?" questioned Leafwhisk, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at Nolan's wounded body, struggling with everything he had.

Eva stood beside her with a similarly ashen and heartbroken face. "Why does he need to go through so much while others can become Immortal so easily!?" she complained when couldn't hold her feelings and indignation and anger for the heaven that was unfair as fuck.

"Rumble!"

Suddenly yellow lightning rumbled and transformed into a black one. "Lightning of Destruction!" screamed two ladies simultaneously. Their faces filled with disbelief and terror.

"Why, why!?" shouted Eva, looking at the black lightning. "Why does heaven want him dead so much!?" her body trembled, and her knees buckled down on the ground without strength—Leafwhisk looked similarly into a terrible condition. Her face drained of any colour, turning pale as a sheet of paper. All hope faded from their eyes.

"Hahaha!" a furious lighter rumbled into the sky, filled with anger and disdain. "Come, you fucking shit! You want to kill me? Keep dreaming!"

Both the ladies turned towards Nolan and saw him shattered the black lightning into pieces, sword still grasped in his hand as he stood in the air like a king or the lord of the space, looking down on masses.

Before they could celebrate, the clouds once more thundered, as if angered and provoked by his shout. The sky trembled in a more terrible way than before and this time, black lightning multiplied at least ten times.

The two ladies saw such a scene and lost all the strength, and even a squeak could not escape their mouth. Both of them hugged each other tightly and cried a silent cry, tears rolling down their smooth cheeks uncontrollably.

"Rumble!" the sky rumbled, louder than ever and larger than before.

"Come!" Nolan also shouted and flew towards the lightning as lightning flew towards him. The lightning and Nolan collided with each other and blackness filled the sky, covering thousands of leagues into darkness. The thunderous and terrible and deafening rumble echoed thousands of leagues, reaching far and wide, scaring beasts and humans and many more creatures at the same time.

"Huff! Huff! Huff!" in the central plain beside the Green Forest and inside the tent, Ayaan opened his eyes, body drenched in sweat and struggled to breathe. Face red and eyes cold. He grabbed his shirt from the side and wore it before looking at the silently sleeping Akash on the other side and left the tent.

It was around four o'clock in the morning, and it was cold and dark, and he drenched in sweat and stood, looking into the horizon. Face filled with complicated feelings. These dreams—he was having these dreams since he had assimilated with the World of Life and Death, but told no one. He could not understand its meaning. Why was he having dreams about someone else's life? What was the purpose? He did not know.

His mind was in complete chaos and wanted to know the conclusion of the Heavenly Tribulation that Nolan went through, but he felt afraid. Why did he feel uneasy and afraid? He did not know. What happened afterwards? He did not know, and that filled his heart with unease.

The cold gust of wind struck his back, making him shiver in the cold. The sweat drenched body felt even colder as the breeze came and went, now and then.

"Can't sleep?" he heard footsteps behind him and turned to find Leafwhisk walking with a slow pace towards him. "Nightmares?" she asked.

Ayaan turned around and looked ahead into the deep-dark horizon. "What do you do when your heart is unsettled?"

She said nothing at first and walked until she stood side by side with him. "Remember."

"What?"

"When my heart feels empty and unease crept its way into it, I remember... all the wonderful memories I have spent with someone special." She said and her gaze became a little unfocused, as if remembering those precious memories.

"Oh," Ayaan nodded and again turned his attention towards the darkness and silence filled the darkness.

"Also, can't sleep?" Ayaan turned towards her and asked. "Something bothering you?"

"Something's bothering everyone," she said. "No one is worry free."

"True," Ayaan said and fell silent, and this time it lasted over ten minutes when once more Ayaan broke it. "What kind of place is the higher world?"

"Terrible place," she replied, looking at the vast sky overhead. "Terrible people live there, terrible things happen, and the strongest warriors die horrible deaths. Nothing is constant and everything's changing every second. Son kills father for throne; brother kills brother for riches; friend betrays friend for money. Lover cheats lover for extra satisfaction. But could satisfaction be found by bedding someone other than your wife or your husband or your lover?" She said and looked into his eyes. "I was lucky enough to meet someone who cared about feelings in that terrible world, but good things never last long."

Ayaan tried to find words for comforting her, but failed in the end, and so remained silent. She continued, "it's called Immortal World by majority there. But can someone really become Immortal? Laughable! Even gods can die in the Divine World."

"Divine World?" Ayaan's eyes flickered. "What kind of place is that?"

"No one knows," she replied, an unconcerned look plastered on her beautiful face. "Who cares anyway?" she turned towards him. "Do you?"

"I don't even know about Immortal World," Ayaan smiled wryly. "Why would I care about the Divine World?"

"True," she said and turned her gaze into the distance and the darkness slowly faded. The new day was about to begin. They were closer than ever to their destination.
